    1963 shifter anti-rattle nylon insert

Many years ago, I saw an article that would help reduce the rattling in a 1963 shifter. It showed that making a thin nylon "plate" that resembled one side of the shifter body. I cannot locate that article, so if anyone can remember seeing it, can you forward it to me? I know there is a Technical Article describing the process, but as they say "a picture is worth a 1,000 words"!

    Thanks

Jerry if you have the 4th edition JM it was a TSB in back of manual.

      Ed,

I don't have the 4th edition of JM, but I do have the TSB. I was looking for the diagram.

      Thanks

Jerry, the 3 Arms on shifter will need a thin nylon washer or a window crank fiber washer behind crank that has to be modified.I don’t have the 4th edition either I gave it away.

FWIW> Not saying this applies to the 63 Corvette But> Had a nice 63 Impala SS with 4 speed Muncie
and it had a small spring attached to one of the arms on the shifter to keep it from "rattle". Remember
it would brake ever so often and had to install a new one which was bought through the Chevy Parts Dept. at
          the dealer. Larry

My '63 T-10 has a small, stiff spring between a hook on the lever shaft and a small bracket attached to the bottom curved outside track. Actually it didn't have one from the factory, but I was able to order one in the late sixties when I discovered it was missing. It really helped mitigate the shifter buzz.
