1963 Coupe Weather Stripping Glue Excessive Application

Hi all. Just a question about weather stripping glue around 1963 Coupe doors. Does the "may appear excessive in application" of glue show around the entire perimeter of the door weather stripping? I have only seen pictures of the bottom and rear of the door, but never of the top or front and just wondering if someone could please post a few pictures or offer some advice. Checked old threads and there are some pictures, but not what I am looking for. Thanks.

Many people who have seen this think it is on the extreme end of the "excessive application" spectrum.

Chug a six-pack. That 'ill get your arm sufficiently "lubricated" to replicate factory glue application methods.

I wonder if that's how it was done at the factory?

The new owners never saw that excess glue........it was clear, with age it yellowed / darkened.

Yes, it certainly has aged, but the TIM&JGs all mention the adhesive used to apply the weatherstripping was yellow or yellowish brown in color.

Well........being around these cars for 50 years and talking to many former St Louis workers I'd have to say I disagree.
I don't think a new car buyer would ever be pleased to see that mess. Would you?
Over time it turned dark, so every car a person sees today shows dark.
I think some take that to mean it was dark from day one which it wasn't.

It wouldn't be the first time the TIM&JGs got it wrong.......

Michael , what I did on my 63 was mix a little brown paint in with the yellow adhesive mix it up and you get the perfect yellowish brown that looks aged.
