    Hi Jeff,
Thank you for that info. Are the copper contacts better than the standard Aluminum ?

Technically yes - -but for non high performance configurations - you won't notice a difference.
Once installed, both the 308R, and 309R are indistinguishable from each other.

Your 1972 200hp does not need a 309R - so shop by price.

Does anyone have a picture of an original TI distributor cap, which I think was red? What was the script on this cap? I dont think I have seen a red cap

I am not sure what year car you are talking about, but my 1970 with TI came with a black distributor cap. I have been working on early C3 TIM&JG for over thirty years and I have never seen any evidence of red distributor caps from St Louis. In the aftermarket one can buy a whole rainbow of colored distributor caps. I am sure as the Concours program is developed we all will see examples.

              Ed,
TI equiped Corvettes used the same distributor cap as cars with conventional points. To the best of my knowledge Corvettes never used a red distributor cap. Maybe it was a Pontiac thing.

I just read a very comprehensive article on the history of the GM TI and they show red caps and coils for the TI. I have never seen one on a corvette or anything else. But always looking for history that I don't known. The article is below was passed on to me from a NCRS Chapter Member.
