Greasy oily mess under hood

Starting to get the '66 coupe (L79) ready for spring when Wisconsin's weather allows. Noticed a greasy oily coating that the fan apparently blew around and coated a good bit under the hood. I have cleaned it up just fine. What do you suppose is the cause? Any ideas of what I should check would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check the fan clutch - they have been known to leak.

Front timing cover, front seal, intake manifold seal, power steering lines or pump are other things to check. Can you tell the type of fluid?
