I've seen difference in the color of the float material and the sock. Don't know if anyone is looking that close, however the easiest to see is the float, black versus amber. When that occured...might go back a long time on this forum to get the data.

So my '64 with a NOS AC/GM sending has been apart for about a year and the tank was drained of all the fuel when I began the work. On Sunday, I did a test of the sending unit accuracy and put 5.25 gallons of gas in the tank and turned the key on. I read exactly 1/4 tank. I still think that the rebuilt sending unit for my '65 should read more accurately than it does for the money that I spent to have it repaired.
