Re: Interesting Look inside my recently (2019) purchased resto battery

I found this battery (just beginning to look) that says it has 600A starting current which I would think that since the car is never started in the winter that would the current at warmer temperatures. It is a Lithium Ion battery and dimensionally leaves plenty of room inside the case.

    What do you think?

      Jeff,
There are 12v batteries and there are Li Ion for EVs, and other things. An EV still needs a 12v battery to function.

I was told by the expert out by you at Batteries plus that deals in this collector car space to stay with AGM.
I do not have the facts as to why he suggested day away from LI Ion in t he 12v space.

The Oddessy that they have will fit, it is what is shown in the OPs post original pictures.

As well the battery you chose has tiny terminals that willl not support the current needed to run a starter.

Terry was hinting at this the other day,

I'll get right to the point, look at my pic, you need big cables and big solid clamps.

Jeffery, Looking at it, it has the cranking amps to do the job at 32 degrees I think but I wonder about the AH (amp hours). Company shows 7.8. the Braille shows 31. I think the result would be if it didn't fire up right away, the battery would die pretty quick. Looks like they show is as a motorcycle starter. Again I think the loss is in the lower amp hour rating and dyeing quickly trying to start a car that's been sitting with a carburetor. I think if you called the Mfg. they could tell you before you put down the $. just my thoughts Tim

Thank you both for your replies and advise. I just thought that since this was a smaller and less expensive alternative, it might work.

            Cost cannot be a consideration
You want the most power money can buy for the space availableIMG_0135.jpg

To that extent I made a box model of the Braille battery 3121 and it will not fit in a DC12 case

Does not appear on the NCRS APP and smart phone I can upload a picture…

              Hi Mike-
I'm at the exact point where you pictures indicate. Were you able to get a Enersys replacement? If so, what was their PN for a replacement battery? If you didn't use Enersys, what battery manufacturer did you end up using? Thanks in advance for your help-
              Regards,
              Tim

Ronald, Im wondering if you still have the bottom in your battery case? Mine had about an inch-plus that I cut out of the bottom. if you look at the picture below, there is the old Extreme battery cut out of the bottom and the Braille sitting in the case with the new bottom installed. It actually fit my case perfect. Tim

                  Tim,

                  Nooo

I followed the original idea - cut out the bottom - of an Original DC-12 battery.

What you have is a reproduction of something that appears to have thinner walls, different configuration, etc.

For sure I did not want cut lines that would show on the finished battery.

                  .
