Tony, The 66 AIM is the only AIM that shows a star washer at that position. It doesn't mean that the assembly line guys installed one there. If they followed the AIMs they had not installed a star washer there for 3 model years. They may not have continued.

The 63, 64 and 65 AIMs do not list or show a star washer.

Good point Joe. When we re-wrote the new 65 TIM JG, the new manual states that a star washer may be present. I think the 65 and 66 Mech judges are good either way.

Alan Drake and Gary researched much of this and wrote a document we have on the DoRD Sticky about 2 years ago. Great effort.

One comment was that since the 1967 AIM was released in May of 1966, it was thought to be possible that late 1966 cars included the toothed washer. Again, never confirmed, but thought a possibility.
