'67 With 9 Days Between Body Build and Final Assy

Does anyone have an explanation for how a '67 St. Louis body car with a trim tag date code H22 (March 22) would legitimately have an official production date 9 days later on March 31, 1967? The March 31 date is per the NCRS Shipping Data Report. I am understanding there is typically only 1-3 days between the body build date and the final assembly production date. As further information, the engine stamp (TO32IJE) shows March 21 production which I understand is not unreasonable.

Daniel, if you provide your order number I will double check the data. Have you had the car judged at a Regional?

Thanks Mark. The Shipping Data Report was order #15852. The St. Louis Chapter VIN and Trim Tag Decoder agrees with the March 31, 1967, on the NCRS Shipping Data Report. The car has not been judged.

Easter weekend was March 24-26. I don't know if that affected plant operations or not. Or the car could have needed some sort of repair before completion.

Daniel, the recheck shows all is correct with the original report. You may want to confirm that the trim tag is correct for the car.

Besides the repair possibility that Reba noted, I recall reading mention of 'dealer financing' issues causing a production delay... then again, my recollection might be inkorrect. In any event, I like the engine assembly date fitting more in line with the LATER (3-31) production date.

Is your car a convertible? My coupe is H22 and VIN 14478.

Body number is 6815. I posted a photo of the trim tag.

That image is fairly small/low-res for a critical evaluation... other may have a different opinion.
For comparison, some of the 67 Trim Tag info I've saved, from St Louis Convertibles:
                        H22 - S6829 - 194677S11452X
                        H27 - S6879 - 194677S11470X
                        H30 - S7000 - 194677S11512X

Does your VIN fit in with this group?

My VIN is slightly higher but close to the VIN with the H30 body.

                            Dan,

Post a high resolution picture of your stamp pad for comments. It was nice meeting you the convention as I mentioned at the convention with the engine assembly date of 3/21 being 1 day before the body build date of 3/22 it's almost impossible as the big blocks were built in Tonawanda. I suspect the original engine may have had a mechanical issue which would explain why the NCRS shipping date shows 3/31 as the cars original engine was being replaced. Typically you see 1-6 weeks before the body build date on Big Blocks engine assembly date. I have seen small blocks with 1-2 days before body build date as the those engines were built in Flint.

You have a great looking car.

                            Mike

Thanks Mike. Here is a higher resolution photo than the one I shared at the convention. The car was restored 15-20 years ago. I've owned it for 5 years. It was great meeting you in Mobile. Thanks for the advice you gave. Hope you avoided COVID. I came home with a mild case. Feeling normal now but still testing positive and remaining isolated this week.
