Question on 69 sb ign shielding

    Guys,

I'm putting my ign shielding on my 69 sb restoration and I noticed there is nowhere to bolt the lower driver's side descending shielding to. The AIM has an "existing support" it calls out for the shielding to be bolted to but I don't see where that could be. The only thing in this area is the spark plug wire loom that bolts to the back of the block but there is nowhere to bolt the shielding to this bracket. I have attached the pic from the AIM. Does anyone know what the "existing support" called out in the AIM is?

The "existing support", if you have the correct GM #3923971 support, does have a tab with a hole for the "wing screw".

The "existing support" that Joe L. and the AIM referrs to is a support bolted to the engine at Flint engine. Thus, it is "existing" relative to the employees at St. Louis.

Thanks Terry. I'm pretty sure I have that bracket. I think I may have used two of the same (passenger side) spark plug wire holders instead of the one I should have used on the drivers side.

Terry were these attached when the engine was painted? Are they, and their attaching bolts engine orange? Looked through the JG and can't seem to fine anything on these specific brackets but I might have just missed it.

Thanks Joe. What's the finish if not painted? Cad/zinc plated?
