My 72 has its original fuel pump, lines and hoses and I saw that one of our esteemed Judges, Herr Hulst, lost his fuel pump prior to the Indiana Regional and I got to thinking that I don't have a suitable fix in the event (when?) my pump goes south. A search here tells me that a service replacement is the 40709 but it is clocked differently. Ebay show zero 40956 pumps as does an internet search. Oth, ebay is chock full of 40709 pumps but I don't know which are made up, authentic, aftermarket repros or ...? So, if the 40709 is a service replacement but the clocking of the outlet is different how is this solved in a replacement? Then I saw the discussion of "S" hose versus non-S hose. Does the hose work for both applications or how is this solved? I have seen references to Airtex (sp?) but I have zero knowledge of them. Input?
So, where does one turn to for a parts-shelf replacement for a fuel pump for a 72 LT-1 and does the S hose care about its clocking, as in, is there enough movement left in the rubber from the hard line to pump?
Looking for input
Thank you as always
Gary
