Just a note to relate my experience changing the glass in my '67's mirror. The original glass was so tarnished that it was pretty useless, especially at night. I ordered replacement glass from MidAmerica Motorworks for ~$34 with shipping.
The old glass came away from the housing fairly easily after warming the rubber surround in hot water and working a plastic epoxy mixer/spreader behind the glass. Comparing old glass with new showed obvious shape differences with the new one being at least 1/8" too tall and ~3/16" too wide with the top curve being off. Thickness seemed OK and pretty similar between the two - though it's tough to tell since they both have wedge profiles for the Day/Night feature.
Using a stained glass wet grinder, I was able to use the old glass as a template on the new and grind the new glass to the correct shape. For anyone with glass replacement in the future, look to see if a glass shop or stained glass maker will profile the replacement for you should it arrive like mine.
After polishing the stainless housing with Mother's, the new glass went in without much trouble and fit perfectly. Remounted in the car and... VOILA, crystal clear rear view!
As an aside, how do folks set the day/night angle? For night driving, flip the lever to tilt the mirror upward or flip it so the mirror tilts downward? I've always flipped it up so the bright reflections hit the car's headliner.
