Looking at L76, Sheet 4.00 (see earlier post in this thread) I was led to believe the routing for the fresh air tube is different for the L76 than for the other engine options. I just noticed that a part number for the tube is not shown on that sheet. There is probably another sheet in the AIM for all engines where the part number is shown. I don't have access to my AIM right now but that's probably where I would see part number 3817306 for all engines as you pointed out.

    Thank You
Please remember the AIM was a living document, pages were added and deleted all the time. Saying that, not all the reproduced AIM's around today are exactly the same. It depends on what original they came from.

Thank you all for responding to my post, your comments were very helpful. I'm still in the process of connecting the original carburetor and intake manifold. You guys helped in figuring out how the hose in the manifold worked.

There is a picture of an engine in the 63 shop manual that indicates to me that the clean air tube in the 64 L76 is different. it would be like the picture Thomas posted above.

Page 132 of 1963 AIM shows the same part 3817306 for all 63 engines.

John, the engine picture I posted is a 63 according to the article I got it from. Has the correct clean air tube setup for all 63 engines. Is the AIM page you posted from the 64 AIM? I believe the 64 clean air tubes are different from 63. Not sure why the change for 64, looks much tougher to install as you indicated.
