Re: 71 & 72 Windshield Wiper Vacuum Pipe Assembly & Fasteners

    Owen,
Yes, the headlamp & w/s washer vacuum hose/pipe assembly special clip (GM #3977709) that I need is shown on page 193, Fig M23.11 of the 6th Edition Judging Guide & Technical Information Manual.

The 1970 AIMs shows it in UPC: UPC: 12, Sheet: A14, Item: #The 1972 AIMs shows it in UPC: 12, Sheet: A15, Item #6).
I can't find this clip anywhere in my 1971 AIMs, which prompted my posting earlier.
    Now, I just have to find the clip . . . . . .

Thanks for all of your help.
    Ray K

I went and checked my car 1971 #21783 for clip #120525 - it is there,
There is nothing special about the clip, no rolled edge for strength etc could be made with little effort from some narrow sheet stock or maybe some thin banding strap.
I will provide photos with a scale in frame for accurate measurement later today.

One thing to note - the plate riveted under my firewall only has one rivet, I didn't see another hole or rivet head. - will investigate further.

        James,
I also checked my car 1971 # 14790. Attached to the innermost hood lock stud is a locking style rubber coated clamp about 3 1/2 inches long with a 3/8" hole in the end. It looks like the locking clamps found along the fender. All the rubber vacuum lines and the metal line that pass by the lock assembly are contained in this one clip. Ray and Owen have 1972"s and have a plain metal clamp that wraps only around the metal pipe. Your car is a later build than mine and I believe you are describing the clamp shown by Owen.
Page 193 , 6th edition, Tech Manual Figure M23.11 also shows this plain clamp on a 1971. On page 111, Figure M 3.9 you can see the large lock clamp on a 1971.
Also did a quick internet search of engine bays and noticed no clip on the inner hood lock stud in 1970, mostly lock clips in 1971, most all plain clips in 1972 and it looks to me they went back to the big clip after 1972.

Mine is plain metal, never restored survivor.

          Here is clip #120525 -
I was mistaken in my previous post - the edge is slightly upturned on both sides where the clip encircles the tubes. I believe it is visible in the photos. THERE is only one RIVET - no sign of another hole whatsoever.

Thanks for everyone's help in providing as much information on my search for info on the headlamp & w/s washer special clip (GM #3977709)
James, the info and pictures you provided were excellent and very much appreciated.
Now, all I have to do is continue searching for one.

.040 the .045 would not slip under and the .035 was loose.
