71 & 72 Windshield Wiper Vacuum Pipe Assembly & Fasteners

Looking for help in trying to identify the clip (GM# 3977709) and fasteners for the 1971 and 1972 Windshield Wiper Vacuum Pipe Assembly (GM# 3977699) as shown (or not shown) in both of the model year AIMs.

For 1972: the AIM shows the clip (GM #3977798), Item #1) in UPC 12, Sheet A15 and only references one to look in UPC 11 for the fastener information (flat washer, lock washer & hex nut?). Unfortunately, I have not been able to find the fasteners in UPC 11 and/or UPC12 (as referenced in UPC 12, Sheet A16). Can anyone help to locate and/or identify these fasteners for me. And, if anyone has info on the clip (GM #3977709), it would also be greatly appreciated.

For 1971: the AIM only references the clip and fasteners in UPC 12, Sheet A15. Oddly enough, when looking at the continuation of this same pipe assembly (GM# 3977699), the clip and fasteners do not appear in UPC 12, Sheet A14 (or in UPC 11 as indicated in the 1972 AIM). Which leads me to wonder if this clip and fasteners were included in the 1971 model year build. Can anyone confirm if the 1971s had the clip and fasteners?

Hi Ray: I see your issue with this and could not verify if my 71 has the clip referenced on SHT A15. You can try reaching out to Alan Struck as he seems (to me anyway) as the go to guy on tech questions for 71's. It doesn't look like he has posted much recently, so I hope all is well with him.

The special clip is 3977708 in the 1971 AIM. It is available in the aftrmarket

UPC12 A15.....3977706 hose asm, 3977708 clip spl, 3977699 pipe asm, 120525 clip spl. There are no washers or nuts shown on this sheet. The set up must be different for 1972.

I have seen and reviewed this sheet multiple times.
Since my UPC12, Sheet A15, doesn't identify any of the special clips (#120525 and 3977708) fasteners, what is, or, are the fasteners?
Rivets? If so, do you have any part number(s) for them?

Perhaps this isn't what you are looking for, but in my AIM, the clip (item #1 on UPC 12, A15 is #3977709) on my '72 uses the same stud and hardware as the hood latch. In UPC 11, A8, they are referencing the 2 washers and nuts that secure the latch.

Thanks for the info and jpeg. It's exactly what I was looking for.
I'm assuming that the clip (#3977709) is also used in for the 1971s.
Unfortunately, I don't have this clip and trying to find one seems to be rather difficult.
Would you "by chance" know if they are available from somewhere or if someone is reproducing them?
Or do you have any further info on it (dimensions, finish, etc)?

On page 188 of the 70-72, 6th addition tech manual (Fig M22.8) a line clip is visible below the rubber washer hose. This photo must be from a 1971 ?, as the location and clip style are different from Owen's 1972 picture.

I have this special clip (#120525). It's shown in the '71 AIMs in UPC: 12, Sheet: A15, Item: #4. Interesting enough, my AIMs doesn't show the fastening nut.

It's my understanding that the clip I'm looking for (#3977709) was "at least" used in the 1970 thru 1972 model years.

Are you talking about the lower photo on the page showing the wiper limit switch, fig M22.8? This style of clip (120525) is used in a couple of places on the vacuum lines on my '72 (very similar to brake or fuel line clips used on the frame) and, as I recall, there's another one below the wiper motor where the line dips way down into the valley of the firewall. On page 193, Fig M23.11, you can see the other style of clip (3977709) at the hood latch of a '71.

My '72 AIM lists the securing nut as 3866486 - #3 in the diagram below.
