    63 Hub Cap restoration

I have two sets of 63 hubcaps that I need to get some dents repaired on, and am looking for someone that can do this. David Sokolowski told me there was a guy in Florida, and he thought his name was Gail, or Gehl, ect? Does anyone know who this might be, or can recommend someone that can do a good job restoring these for a car that will be judged?

    Thanks!
    Todd

Todd, I use http://www.brightworksrestoration.com/contact.htm for my 63 caps. Steve does excellent work, I'm sure others will comment.

Steve does the stainless work. The bars and spinners can be installed by you. If the originals are not bad, use them. Reproduction bars and spinners look good.

Like anything on a 63, your wallet will take a dent.

      Those look pretty beat up....c

I don't know of anybody (here in Florida) that does them, at one time I thought Andy Cannizzo was doing them but may have quit.
Its a tough job to reform the curved dented rims and eliminate road rash..
Now, having said that, there was an Italian (IIRC) gent from Bunell, FL that showed up at the Old Town NCRS Regionals for years
and is amazingly talented. Someone here should remember his name of can get it off an old vendor's list. He MAY be the one referred to.
Be prepared to shell out about $300 or more a corner at a minimum.

          Todd,
Like Harry said. I had a set done by Steve at Brightworks and they came out great. Andy was doing them when I stopped by earlier this year. He mentioned getting dings out around rim as being very difficult , he wished there was a tool to do that.
I also ran into a vendor at Carlisle this year selling a couple of sets that were beautiful, he said they were done by a gentlemen from Florida.

Just curious - what does a set of restored '63 hubcaps sell for?

The vendor at Carlisle wanted around $1800 for a set.

He should have had a gun and a mask; I bought my restored set at the NCRS Regional after it moved to Lakeland (2nd year it was there) so not that long ago. Asking price $600 negotiated down to $550 cash and they are perfect.

LOL, he may have had a gun, I just didn't see it. $550 is a great price!

The restorer in Florida might have been J &M Stainless Steel Repair. Name is John Marques.

I've used Steve at Brightworks for all of my stainless restoration. Great to do business with and I highly recommned him.
