This seems to change yearly but what is the best oil and break in additive to use? Stock engine with flat top pistons. Thanks in advance.

Re: Rebuilt 1963-360HP engine
CK-4 replaced CJ-4 a few years ago, and some formulations changed slightly, but the tests didn't so CK-4 is fully "backward compatible" with earlier specs.
So 15W-40 CK-4 is the best value for an oil with high anti-wear additive content for sliding surface valve train engines. If GM still sells EOS add a pint.
If the cam lobes and lifters were treated to a moly break-in grease, change the filter after the 20-30 minute breakin at 2000-2500 because the solids in the moly great can clog the filter. So just change the filter, top off the oil and run it at least 500-1000 miles.
Thereafter just use 15W-40 CK-4, and no supplemental additives are necessary.
