Are there any 107 coils out there that the major vendors have discontinued? I could use one for my low horse 61 FI. Thanks! Mark

 Re: 107 Coil

I have several* new Chinese "Delco" 107 coils still in the box. They are not as strong or long-lived as I would like, but they do usually work to 5,000 rpm for 5 or more years. They then can't re-start the engine when hot. However, they will still start it cold after failing hot and keep the engine running until shut off. Weird.

 * All gone. I had five and they were sold this afternoon.- Top

 Re: 107 Coil

The repro won't pass judging anyhow according to what Dr. Mike told me. One thing he pointed out to me was the repro threaded studs are magnetic. Also the location of the 107 12 Volt was another reason. Right Doc???
Mark, Take advantage of the the Judging reference manual. Just use a known good DR coil and only get a minor deduct.- Top

john: u got it bass-akwards. the repo studs are not magnetic, ie, they are of stainless composition. real studs hold a magnet. mikeThe repro won't pass judging anyhow according to what Dr. Mike told me. Re: 107 Coil

 Mike:

I was aware of that. You had mentioned that to my good friend Dave Cloutier. I was just interested in getting a base line for my own knowledge.

 John:

Jerry Bramlett recommended a Standard Ignition Coil UC12X for compatibility of a 107 in performance.

 Sincerely,

 Mark
PS: I understand that it 109 degrees in PS today.- Top

 Re: 107 Coil

Gerald, If it were my car I would do the same as you. Now the 091 for your car isn't cheap but 107's are extinct.
I tell people exactly what Jerry Bramlett recommends. Even though the coil is made south of the border it's an excellent one to use except for judging. Joh- Top

From what I can determine, the GM #1115107 coil was never available in SERVICE and was a PRODUCTION-only part number. If so, it's not surprising that this coil would be difficult to find. An NOS example would be, by definition, impossible. Used or reproduction would be the only way to obtain one. By now, the used examples might be mostly "used up".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

 Re: 107 Coil

Once up a time some vendor produced the 107 coil case that would slip over another coil. Gary Pronesti might know who it was or possibly have one.
