59 Dual Quads on a 270HP

I hope everyone is well!

I have enclosed pictures of the dual carb setup on my 59 Corvette. I have owned the car for twenty six years and a friend the previous ten. I know the quads are not standard 2613S/2614S but Rusty at Carbdoctor seems confident they are Chevy issues. They are Carter WCFB's and in the family of CM448.

Questions: There are no tags so how do you identify them? Is it possible they were dealer supplied, either warranty replacement or swap?

All comments are appreciated or guidance as to who is best at identifying these Carters?

You are going to need all the numbers to these. That includes the casting numbers for the bases. You will need to remove the screws on the bottom to see that. The bases are not Corvette. The front carb has an idle bypass screw. The Idle speed screws are mounted horizontally on these. The linkages are also not Corvette.
They may be a very rare setup that would be valuable to the right person.

As Joe LeMay said, you'll need to get all the numbers off of the carbs.

I can't quite read the number on the front carb air horn, if its 6-1299, its prob legit and the idle air bypass screws were used on '56 and early '57 dual quads. Here is a numbers "cheat sheet" to help you sort things out.

-Air Horns show casting numbers 6-1310 on both with stamped numbers 1307 Rear and 1306 Front.
-Bowls have casting numbers 0158 and looks like the 0 is stamped and 158 cast???

I am most well - thanks for asking and I hope the same for you...
Its looking llike you may have a Chrysler dual quad setup...
Other than correctness, there is NOTHING wroing with such a setup on a Corvette, and, in my experience the larger bores can provide a noticeable performance boost. The attached PDF will tell you all about the Corvette vs Chrysler dual quad differences.

Yep, certainly seems like a Chrysler setup!!! Wonder if it is worth selling or have any value? It would be nice to get the right carbs! It would also be nice if I had all my teeth and hair given that we are the same age.

looking straight down into the carbs, chrysler wcfb's will have 1" embossed whereas corvettes have 15/16" embossed. mike

1 embossed on both carbs, in-between the primary bores.

Gentlemen,
A little research and to confirm Frank's initial diagnoses, the carbs are Chrysler Carters 2631S and 2632S. They were original to the 1957/58 Plymouth Fury V800 Dual Quad 318 with 290HP.

There seems to be a value as there is a set of carbs for 2500 US on eBay, not working. Now we look for original Corvette dual quads!

Just so you know - both the 245hp and 270hp Corvette dual quad carbs will have 6-1299 lids; there are a few "tells" to determine if a set is for a 270hp car (vs a 245hp car). A big one, that can't be faked and can be seen without disassembling things is the 45* angle cut of the primary nozzles as you look straight down the bore. Look at the green circled items in the first picture in this article.

245hp carbs will have a straight vertical cut similar to the rear nozzles. I have seen more than one 270hp car running the 245hp carbs that are incorrect (but functional).
