I’ve created a mask/template with this critical drip pattern cut in it for those of you who must be dead nuts accurate in duplicating this entirely random occurrence. Please send a check for $11,457 to Mike, the Somali Prince, Rural Route 23, Bozark, AK. Expect your left and right hand templates (they are actually the same, but don’t tell anybody) and lots of masking tape sometime in the late Fall, depending entirely on how the glacier melt progresses….

Why is there some sort of rod coming out of the exhaust pipe?

That rod is to keep the exhaust pipes aligned so when the tips are installed they are centered, or close to centered, in the opening on the valance.

My restorer uses a version of that rod when doing body off restorations on C2s.

                  Mike, also (received this today)...

From John Hickley presentations the bracket holding the mufflers was used to pull the mufflers inward so body could drop passed the mufflers, ie Body Drop. Must assume the rear valance was attached later after the bracket was removed. If you notice the rear fenders at the valance have some small cutouts, again to aid with body drop.
