C1 Steering Wheel and Instrument Cluster

I hope everyone is well!

I know this has been covered before, but what gloss finish would the steering wheel and instrument cluster be painted on a black interior 1959?

Tony,

Steering wheel was a molded-in color, somewhat glossy with usage. I've seen a few NOS examples, all over-the-counter wheels were satin black and had to be painted interior color.

When I restore a wheel, I use Scotchbrite strips to get the grippers clean, wipe with acetone which gives it a stickier clean surface, then I use a red primer, overnight cure, then a gray sealer, overnight cure again.

Then top coat with lacquer, about 6 coats with about 2 minutes flash time between coats. I leave it unbuffed when cured. I try not to touch it for several days.

All clusters were simply unbuffed lacquer like all other interior parts, I.e. radio console, kick panels, heater cover, package tray, etc.
