    1972 Clock not operating

20210506_125404_HDR.jpgThe original clock on my 1972 isn't working. I have researched and followed the instructions on how to disassemble and attempt to resurrect it. The contacts look good and it makes a pop when you energize it but the spring is completely unwound. What are the thoughts on having it repaired or just buying a new replacement?

If you are worried about judging the new clocks are solid state and don't have the rewind "click".
I recently purchased a new clock for my '72 Monte Carlo. It is solid state but the second hand works as the original stopping at each second rather than a continuous sweep movement. I believe the clock "mechanics" for a Corvette and a Monte Carlo would be the same with different faces and mounting.......

You can still buy a brand new clock from Instrument Services Inc made from the original tooling.
The down side? They changed their paint, and the black is duller than originals. If you know what you're looking for you can see it.

Otherwise I'd just have your original restored.

Hi Patrick, what is the NCRS point consequences for a quartz replacement clock?

You could lose Operations points, and definitely not pass a PV.

If judging is in your future, I wouldn't go with quartz.

Hi Patrick, I was able to procure a NOS clock from a fellow NCRS member for a fair price. Now installed and keeping correct time.
