Correct 1969 Gas Cap

Below are 2 pictures of the gas cap on my 1969 427/435 Corvette. I am not sure about the drilled holes does anyone know about this?

The cap is correct but the holes are not. This cap has an integral pressure/vacuum valve as it should. Someone must have decided this was not enough for them and added the holes. The only Corvette cap that ever had a hole (although not in the location seen here) was the 1963 cap. The 1963 cap did not have the integral pressure vacuum valve.
