66 rocker panel fr fender bracket finish

Looking to find out if the little bracket riveted to the bottom of the front fender was painted body color , left natural to rust or maybe painted black . any info would be great

    Bob,

Do you know whether the car body was built by AOS or at the St. Louis assembly plant? If it was assembled at AOS, I can't say for sure but they may have been the same yellow/green zinc chromate as the other brackets. If the body was built at St. Louis, they were more than likely black. These brackets were installed on the body prior to the body being painted so they may/can show evidence of evidence of the red oxide primer and body color.

it is an AOS body so i guess zinc chromate with some body color over spray will do the trick

            Bob,

For my St Louis body, I decided to keep them natural, albeit with a satin clear coat.
