Page 99 of the TIMJ manual states ...Additional ground straps will also be observed between the right rear fendere to the frame and TWO FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS TO THE BLOCK. Are there really supposed to be TWO straps at the motor mounts to the block? We cannot remember there being more than one and that one is usually to the right (passenger) side mount to block. Please advise which is correct. Thanks

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
Lynn, if there was a ground strap attached just look at the frame for a sign that a screw was threaded into frame at sometime. If there was not, the hole will be smooth.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
The 1975 Assembly Manual only has 2 sites illustrated for Ground Straps. #1 is from the frame to the left front windshield/firewall support just in front or the driver's side door. #2 is from the radio antenna mounting plate to the frame above and in front of the left rear wheel. I have gone from front page to the rear page of the AIM an found no reference or illustration about a grounding strap from the engine block to the motor mount. Additionally restoration vendors after checking with several accepted vendors, they all only sell a 2 strap kit for reinstallation. I'm asking because the TIMJ Guide says one strap to each side of the block and to it's corresponding engine mount. Hence the confusion.Lynn Skipper 62393

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
Lynn
I'm posting a Ground Straps & Cables addendum page that attempts to clarify the topic you've raised. Understand, the 2nd edition of the 75-77 lacked the research and confirmation process that the yet-to-be-published 3rd edition took on over the past 18 months. This page looks at years 73-77 and I'm asking the revision team to take at look at their cars and confirm their findings with the page posted below. You can help by checking your ground straps and cables and compare to the page.

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
Tom,
I only found two wires grounded to the frame. One for the battery and one at the very rear of the frame on the LH side. See photos.

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
Hi Matt,
You should mention that your car (1977) is a radio delete. Which means you don't have the antenna grounding plate and rear ground strap back there. It would attach to that same spot on the frame. Do you have a ground cable coming off your starter brace to the frame under the right side motor mount?
ThanksJimmy

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
Jimmy,
You are absolutely correct. Here's a photo of the ground cable from the starter brace to the RH side motor mount you mention above.
And yes I should've mentioned my car is radio delete.

Re: 1975 L-48 Convertible GROUND STRAPS
Thanks guys. My car has AM/FM radio and the ground from the radio grounding plate to the frame. In addition to the strap from the body support brace to the frame on the left side, is there supposed to be a strap on either frame engine mount to the block?Lynn Skipper 62393
