"6961" Neat idea, Just put your plate on upside down. It would sure get a lot of looks, some maybe not so welcomed.

I tend to shy away from the obvious year, engine, model, etc. and tend to look for clever ways to reference the era:

GRVY (though could be misinterpreted as GRAVY!)
              FAB
              TRKN
              A GAS
              BLST
              KCKS
              UNRL
              SITM (Sock It To Me)

Being limited to only 4 characters is tough!
(BTW, my '67 has had YSTR YR for 35 years in 2 states.)

No idea about the plate, but what is the date code on your carburetor? I have an Oct 69 built car, and I'm trying to figure out how far back the date code should be on my q-jet. If yours is the original, I'd be interested in knowing how far before the assembly date it was. Thanks in advance.

                    Hi Bill,

Yes, as of April 2012 a vintage registration plate is permitted in lieu of a special antique or classic registration plate...and the fee is $75 in addition to any fees that may be due for antique or classic registration.

The old purple and white antique plates were one-time fee only and no state inspections required.Doc1_001.jpg
                    thx,

Why are you going for an antique plate? Doesn't that limit your use of the car?

On the AG bandwagon. Mine is "pewterAG" for its color (guess the year) An option even though the car is red could be:

If you have classic car insurance you will have some limits on what you can do with your car.

Hagerty. "doesn't restrict usage to just parades and car shows; we encourage you to drive your classic just for the fun of it."

Trust me, there is no errand too minor.

It can't be your daily driver, but otherwise there are no restrictions with the Corvette Museum policy. I do have to chose my estimated annual mileage, but there are brackets to suit everyone from 1000 up to unlimited miles per year. Of course the policy cost is adjusted accordingly.

I am restricted to car shows and maintenance travel by my state Historic Vehicle tags, but I have never heard of anyone being stopped and asked for the purpose of their trip. If one was acting the fool the improper use might be a add on charge to whatever the main charge was but, to state the obvious, don't be acting the fool.
