Larry, the shielding in your picture post 13 shows the shielding correct. The Red wire on alternator is just a question on its position, sometime water runs down hill so when the boot points down this is my reason for asking, not that I drive my cars in the rain. The compartment looks beautiful. Nice work. I always like the small details, when I restore my car and when I judge it shows when you pick up the hood.

Hey Larry,...First off, overall the 327 small block looks great.....in addition to the items noted above,....engine paint looks just way tooooo good, tooo much shiny paint,....next the small block dipstick tube should be natural unpainted steel, ...next all master cylinder outlets lines should be tin dipped steel with a natural finish, and the hex male fittings should be cad/dichromate finish,....and the air cleaner cover chrome looks just toooo good, ....not sure what that is on top of the front shock, but it should not be black......normal production engines just did not look this great coming out the door.......but I like it......Looks Great.

I am not seeing the kind of engine paint overspray that I would expect on the exhaust manifolds.....

The small block 327 engines did not have the exhaust manifolds bolted to the blocks at engine block paint time,.....therefore no orange overspray on the exhaust manifolds is correct.

Hello Gary,...No I am not talking about post #13. I am referring to Larrys two pictures in post #1. The engine block orange paint just looks tooo good for top flight judging...but looks real good for concurs judging. I would lose points in flight judging when my 66 small block looked that good.

before 66 the manifolds were attached when case was painted. After 65, they were attached after engine paint.

Isn't Calyx on the manifolds a finish deduction?

Chester>thanks for the response>Take a look at my #2 entry about the shades of color due to different conditions. My Dip Stick is
the original (natural finish) just don't show up that way in that picture. Air Cleaner is flash chrome with the proper markings under the
lid. I'm sure you know seeing a engine in person with the human eye is different from seeing it in a picture. Below is another angle
of the engine showing the dip stick. Larry P.S. Shocks/Brake Lines will be changed out in the next phase

Thanks Ed on your response. In your opinion what is the precise difference you see from my engine and the one in post #13
pertaining to the Ignition Shielding if any?? Thanks >Larry
