The 56/57 Judging Guide leads me to believe both the front and rear end frames are aluminum (one painted one natural) on the 1102043 generator. Is my understanding correct or is the rear painted end frame made of something other than aluminum? I will be looking to buy one some time soon and would like to avoid a part that is incorrect. Anything else I should watch out for? If it matters the car was built at the end of March 1957. Thank you.

Re: 1102043 Generator
Terry, On all Corvette 1102043 generators the Commutator End frame(rearward, facing firewall) is a cast part(iron) and is painted black. The Drive End frame is aluminum, unique to Corvette, unpainted. The main case was typically semi-gloss black.
Drive End 1933109
Commutator End 1934131 This has the provision for the Tach Drive adapter.
Here is a document describing Corvette generator end frames which should help. Note the spacing between the bearing center and mount center are shorter than the frames used on Pass car and Trucks, etc.

Also a rebuild doc I wrote with more info on the frames
