    C2 Interior Paint

My 1965 coupe restoration is ready for paint. Exterior is Milano Maroon (900 MM) and the interior is White (437 AA). I am in need of recommendations/input on interior paint (white). Limited areas are painted this interior color. Can anyone provide recommendations on paint brand (PPG, Axalta, etc.) and formula? Also, is the interior paint the same as used for interior "dye". Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Terry, I don't believe PPG still makes lacquer, not sure about Axalta. Unless you can find some old stock. As I recall "dye" is good for softer goods but I have used it for hardgoods before with good results. I prefer lacquer though.

I have used TCP Global for all of my lacquer needs over the years. Based in California. Note they can't ship to CA residents, but can everywhere else.

Under Paint & Coatings drop down, then under Automotive Paint, select Auto Color Library, will bring you here....

Looking up 1965 Chevrolet from the drop down menu, pg 2 of the chart shows all Corvette low gloss interior choices, including White. It is their own "Restoration Shop" brand which I've used many times and is very good quality. I've used their red and blue and black with excellent matching and application results. In one case I used their Turqouise for a '59 interior and the match was absolutely perfect.

Inside that browser page, upper right, select "White", it'll take you to the Acrylic Lacquer page.....

Restoration Shop Products are manufactured in the USA to the highest automotive industry standards. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

There, select PAINT TYPE " Acrylic Lacquer", etc. Enter the Manuf code from the Page 2 info as required, Ditzler in this case. IIRC Chip Formula # can be left blank.

Also note the bottom of the page for other needs like proper reducer(thinner), etc.

It may be best to call them if you're unsure about the menus as it can get a bit confusing. They're great over the phone and can answer all of your questions.

Depending upon color the lacquer is in abundant supply, you have to know how to find it.

Example I have the components to make about ten gallons of 974 Rally Red,

Milano maroon obviously is a different formula, how soon do you need it?

We will be talking about the Real Deal PPG-DuPont stuff...

In fact if you had the DuPont color components, I just happened across about 300 quarts of various colors of Lucite today...

            Ron,

I am fixed on my exterior color paint (Milano Maroon) and was looking for information on the white interior paint. I think I'm good for now. Thanks for responding.
