We have a group working on a revision for the 75-77 manual and have yet to find a heater hose with the GM logo on any of the three pieces...ribs yes, molded ends for the heater core -yes, GM logo no!

The number of ribs or grooves on the hoses was a code which denoted the hose manufacturer. I don't know that they were required if the manufacturer was otherwise identified by a code printed on the hose.

A technical detail, but coolant is pushed from the pump through the 3/4" hose to the heater core and returns to the manifold. I ask because references (hoses) call the 3/4" hose the outlet, meaning a return from the heater core. So the orientation of hoses is to the heater core.

When I jokingly said that lacquer thinner works great, I hope you understood that I meant to remove the GM logo. The 6th edition of the 68-69 judging guide says that the hoses had no GM logo but had white letters DL, EB, U, JT, and X. After removing the logo I had a rubber stamp made with one of these ( I can't remember which) and stamped them with white ink. Got full credit at the Novi national event.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I spoke with the vendor New York Restomod and he had the correct hoses. Have a great week and be safe out there.

Hi Jeff, I was wondering if you can post a pic of the letter stamp I was thing of using the U stamp on my hoses ( ordered the molded hoses w/grooves) which way was the U facing length wise? What was the distance between stamps. I have a comp. that can make a stamp. Thanks Ed

                Ed,
I would be happy to send a photo and information you need. It will have to wait until Friday as tomorrow is Grandpa day in Ann Arbor.

There are only two "U's" on the heater hoses on my 1970 LT1, and as best I remember they are stamped only on one hose. No pictures at this time.

I would expect a different code for other engines and/or heater hose configurations.
