    65 Coupe Bulkhead connector

While diconnecting the bulkead connectors at the firewall, I broke the upper plastic lock tab that holds the plug together. Is there a way to lock the plugs together without the plastic tab?

    Regards,
    Dave K.

I went through the same thing on my 63, those metal terminals are friction contacts and nothing I tried secured the housings tightly enough...not zip ties or tape or trying "Plastic Weld" to reattach the locking tab. If something did work I would be skeptical about how long it would do so.

I wound up buying a repair kit from Lectric Limited ($125) and "re-pinning" the bulkhead metal connectors into the new plastic housing - not for the faint of heart but I had a lot of experience with Canon plugs from my avionics days. I didn't use the new pins, but the kit was the only way LL would sell the housings... The job requires the round tool shown to get the pins loose safely.

I put a PDF document together complete with pictures, part numbers and tips during a bout of insomnia this morning that you may refer to if you want to tackle installing new plastic bulkhead connector housings.

        Frank, Nicely Done!

I will add that to the Database when I can.

Friend and PDF wizard Dave Zuberer did some quality revisions to my blurb on this issue; folks should grab this version if they're interested.
