Performing a pressure and volume test on a fuel pump (NOS or otherwise) takes 5 minutes with a common vacuum gauge...and a clear container...

Took no time at all.... was only getting 3 lbs of pressure and had a very slow leak. I took an NOS 4657, rebuilt it with today's rubber and installed it. Dry and 5.5 lbs of pressure.

I took out my sending unit to replace the sock "just in case"! I have attached a couple of pictures of the sock. It came off very easily as it was pretty brittle. The material off as you can see. How do I remove the sock frame that is still on the fuel line? Does it just "slip off". If I need to help the new sock stay on as mentioned, can I use something like JB Weld?

I’m putting a new gas tank in my 1969 and purchased an aftermarket filter sock and found it rather difficult to put on. Different diameters on fuel pickup line and filter sock hole.
It took a lot of wiggling and twisting to get it on.

VERY LIGHTLY "ream" the orifice in the new sock assembly until you get a snug fit. Do it progressively so you don't over-do it.

I should have done that first. Once I started it was too late.
It’s on there but it won’t be coming off easy
