All the no. 8 clips are the same. Get them from any vendor.

Re: '63 Horn Wiring Color Green or Black?

Tonight I was tinkering on my 63 FI car that was judged at two regionals. It has a black wire between the horns. An original wiring harness as car only has 30K miles. On and off the trailer.
PS. Birthday of car is March 3, 1963.

Interesting - my car is March 20. Well, I am not going to take the green ones back off so will see what happens whenever/if ever it get judged.
          Thanks John.

Easy answer is to check the AIM for all wiring questions, including color.

              Black Magic Markers work well!

I've had 5 63's and didn't have to use a black magic marker on any of the green horn wires! No points deducted either!

Wow, didn't know there was going to be math involved . I still have the black wire that came with the M&H harness and all of the clips so will be easy enough to change if needed. And yes, how late is late? Thanks All!

".. how late is late?" How late is YOUR car? Your first post stated your original harness had a green wire.

Assembly Instruction Manual and 1963 GM wiring diagrams indicate BLACK horn wire. NCRS' judging guide indicates black wire with transition to GREEN wire late 1963 and then on.

GM was not going to scrap a perfectly good harness with a black wire just because of a color change to green. Likewise, line workers were not going to use up all the black wire harness before they started using a green wire harness - they grabbed what was in their bin and installed it. Hence a transition - these was no sharp cutoff.

John Hinckley wrote articles on the Assembly Instruction Manual - link below to one on the Camaro Research Group's website. CRG's article is more detailed than what has appeared in various Corvette magazines. Note John's statement, at article conclusion, that because of running changes and because of how the A.I.M. was maintained, it is unlikely any car was built to the A.I.M. we have today.
