Yes, there are many leak sources on small and big block Chevrolet engines. However, the one that's always bothered me the most is the drain plug. I just don't see why a gasket cannot be developed that will end the leak 100% at that point. I'm going to try dead soft copper and aluminum and see if those will do it. I'm not optimistic, though.

I wonder if a copper washer similar to the one used on the oil filter canister bolt would have any effect ?
Personally, I'll put up with a few dabs of oil on the garage floor vs over-tightening the drain plug...

I wish some former owner hadn't cranked on my block coolant drain plugs like there is no tomorrow. Ugh.

Good Morning Norm. Did You Try A New Oil Pan Plug ? I Was Told The Drain Plug Has Softer Threads So When This Happens A New Pan Plug Is The Cure . This Year I Replaced My Squashed Pan Plug Gasket With A Thick Plastic Washer. No Leaks So Far. Good Luck Keep Safe And Well. Peter
