    sway bar

    67 327/350
Ready to order new sway bar bushings and links, I checked the bar diameter.

Turns out it measured 7/8....ok to leave as is or look for a 3/4 bar?
    thanks...

What are your plans for this car?

If your concern is Flight judging, "Anti-roll bar, links & bushings" are 5 points Originality and 5 points Condition. i.e. if your car showed up without any sway bar, bushings, links, etc, you would loose a maximum of 10 points out of 4500 points possible.

Likely you would loose 20% for Configuration or 1 point (20% of 5 Originality points) - under CDCIF given bar is 7/8 vs 3/4.

You need to assess cost of replacement sway bar vs picking up ≈1 judging point.

If you're happy with your current setup, I'd leave it alone - just replace bushings and links.

p.s. BTW does your car have a rear stabilizer bar?

No rear stabilizer bar...not being judged, thought it would have adverse effect on drive ability being its for a big block..
      Thanks...

        Shouldn't be a problem. My 1980 with FE7 suspension has a 1 1/8" front bar.

            Re: sway bar

Sway bars do not typically affect the ride much.
Big difference is the cornering ability.

The sway bars on modern cars are much beefier than anything from the 60's.
For example The 1990;s Ford Escort GT has a sway bar that looks to be 1-1/4.

Gymkhana Suspension option FE7 (1974-1982) included stiffer sway bar and springs. Some folks removed rear sway bar to improve ride. Serves as anti-roll bar to quiet body lean in corners. Probably you would notice differences on a track, but not much in day-to-day driving.
