That why buying any high dollar Corvette you need a history trail and it's all about documentation of the car

Not always. In this particular example, the car came with photos of the restoration, the original window sticker, the original invoice, the original MSO, and the protect-o-plate (all original and correct - the MSO and window sticker was even authenticated by NCRS). Didn't stop the trim tag from being fake.

If they had a real validated Window sticker it would tell you the true colour when it was born with and what engine and many other things about the car, Trim Tag doesn't give you the Vin # of the car ether, if someone know how to read a proper Protector plate they would pick that up(someone had changed the color to red and changed the trim tag) Didn't stop the trim tag from being fake.. SO what was the original colour that state on the Window sticker and on Protector plate, i,am missing something here

Then, the seller, changed the car back to the original color, to match the original paperwork, and then got another fake trim tag to match the one that was originally on the car.

So is the current one really a fake one? Or could it be considered an exact reproduction? To me, a fake would be a tag indicating something that the car is not with the purpose of deceiving.

So all information on the replacement Tag not a fake trim tag matches the information from the authentic documentation ok that good, maybe some body damage the trim Tag during Restoration is there any proof the Tag were change more then 2 times like your saying really doesn't matter how many times you change the trim tag as long as your not selling a fake car, where does the Vin.Tag # comes into the this story is the Vin.Tag the Original to the car , the Vin. # follow the Protector plate and Window sticker if that correct then the car is real there a replacement trim tag not a Fake one everything been corrected according to the protector plate and window sticker that's not faking the car , faking a car is when the car was born Red and you sell it painted black, all i can say someone should of said there a replacement Trim Tag on the car the Original got damage or lost .

many years ago I checked a 67 435 out for a potential purchased, all "numbers" matched including the vin stamped on the rear end housing

Also, if I ever sold the car, I would be compelled to tell the whole story - and long stories don’t sell cars. LOL. I ended up with an all original 1968 L68 for almost half the money. So, it all worked out in the end.

I only hope the buyer of the car with the “replacement” trim tag, doesn’t decide to get the car judged.

I think it's to your benefit to write down the whole story for the next owner. That way they are prepared if/when they get it judged.
