Re: 69 washer barrel valve

Sorry I'm late to the party. This is a collection of barrel valves/anti drip valves that I have collected over the years. Some black, some black & white, some white & black, some with big nipples, some with small nipples, plus a NOS /service replacement. In 2013 when I was preparing my '70 for PV, I was having trouble with the anti drip valves continually leaking through. So I took one apart to see how it was made, and I found that only one side had a check ball in it. After visiting with Gary Bosselman, he asked me to send it to him so he could take it to the Florida regional to discuss with other C3 experts. I know that Stan F and Terry Mc and maybe others discussed this valve and how it is suppose to work. If I remember correctly, the conclusion of these experts was that this check valve was suppose to prevent the fluid from sucking back to the washer pump on the suction stroke. These valves do not prevent the fluid from running out of them, thus they are not anti drip valves. I passed my PV later that year with 2 large puddles under the headlights. Maybe Gary or Terry will remember more about their discussion in Florida and can chime in. I typed this as Dallas Keller dictated this to me, so this is Dallas' post.
