All 1969 w/w pump parts were off-white. No originals were black. Later SERVICE components were black. Some reproduction components are "very white". These are obviously closer to the originals than the black parts but still not "exactly right".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 69 washer barrel valve
Francais,
Just a clarification, are you referring to the short, round backflow valves that are in-line of the ww tubing?

Re: 69 washer barrel valve
yes , i have two 69 motors and original washer systems i have been playing with these , i have a set up to bench test motor and wash cycle getting them to work with a wheel and spring from pump i had . my old replacement motor had no drip valve so both wiper hoses went to the three port side now with drip valve there is one port to wiper one to headlight so either i need a tee or this barrel valve my tubes are small they seem original and will fit on tee but the barrel valve seems to have big nipples , hate to complain about big nipples, but i don't think they will fit leading me to think was this original with tee or barrel valve- Top

Re: 69 washer barrel valve
Even though these are '70 parts; as Joe said the pump discharge is white. The other item is the barrel/drip valve which I think is all black in '69 and these have a white barrel in '70.

Re: 69 washer barrel valve
now do the 70s have the anti drip valve on the drivers side of motor and the barrel valve . my question now is do the 69s have a barrel valve or a splitter , i think my hoses coming from wiper arms seem to be original all the clamps at arm still in place but they seem to small to fit on barrel valve. this guy had 3 for sale 2 black one white i bought the white one oh well maybe i can swap have not received yet.- Top

Re: 69 washer barrel valve
The reason I asked about color is that I have a june 69 L46 that has 2 black barrel valves that I believe were original to the car, but I can't confirm it. The pump ports are white.

The 1970 did not have the headlight washer solenoid on the driver side of the wiper motor. In 1970 the washer pump outlet changed from 3 port to 5 port with the extra 2 ports feeding directly to the headlights. The 1969 headlight washer solenoid was 69 only. Its was also used on 1969 Camaros with the Rally Sport option, it is being reproduced. I attached a diagram of how the system was connected. This picture and the 1969 AIM should get you on track. The Y connector and the barrel anti-drip valves or anti-siphon valves are not being reproduced. The purpose of the ant-siphon valves was to prevent the headlight washers from draining washer fluid out of the system. I believe this is checked for on a PV.Larry

Re: 69 washer barrel valve
Francais,
Attached is a picture of the Y connector. It taks the 2 outlet hoses from the washer pump and combines to 1 hose to feed the headlight washer solenoid. Notice the difference in the size of the hose connections.

In my original response to this question I was unclear as to just what components the OP was referring to. I thought that by "barrel" he was referring to the barrel-like section of the pump. In addition, GM always referred to the top component of the pump as being a "valve". Of course, all of the plastic components of the pump were off-white.
As you stated the solenoid or "splitter" for the headlamp washer system was a 1969-only item. For 1968 there was no headlamp washer system and for 1970-72, the 5 port pump was used. Why the complicated solenoid or "splitter" was ever used has always been a mystery to me. Most of the plastic components of the "splitter" are also off-white although there is one black plastic component.
As far as what appears to be the subject of the OP, the components described as "barrel valves", those on my original owner 1969 are black. Whether all ever used were black I have no way of knowing. In addition, I cannot find that these devices were ever available from GM in SERVICE and can find no part number for them. They must have been part of hose assembly GM #3940536 which, itself, was also never available in SERVICE.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Francais, If seller won't swap or you don't want to go though the trouble, just paint the white barrel black.- Top
