      Michael,

If you post some pictures of the car condition you will get some good common sense opinions to think about regarding how to move forward.

Don't fool yourself, if the car has been sitting for so long it will need some good maintenance before driving but you don't need to go down the restoration road with project creep. Gotta keep it in check and stay focused on the goal you set for the car and you will enjoy the experience.

ok, i have had a body shop my whole life. i am now 64. i have restored many a car in my day. having done so i know enough to know when i do not know it all. and that is why i am here. looking for info and YOUR ideas so i may make a good decision. the car is a 64. build date dec 6th of 63. it has 37445 miles on it. was parked at least 30 years, most of it in the back yard under a tarp. when i first got the car i wanted to restore it my way. which would include adding air, power steering, and power windows. it is a 365 h.p. car. so far all number match except the rear which is a 65 and the nose which is a 66 or 67. it has been hit in the nose and who ever replaced it did a great job. they replaced it at the seams and saved the 64 rear lower side fender panels. it has a 66-7 hood on it. name plate on left front edge. also the radiator is dated dec 65. i have had a few "vette" guys come look at it, and spoke to a few ncrs people. all say leave it as is but then when they finish they say "it's your car do it your way". i have now come to the conclusion to go thru the car and get it running. redo the brakes, tune it up and all the things needed to drive it. i now figure i should leave it as is for the time being. one it will be cheaper and in the future if i decide to repaint it i can always do it at a later time. with this in mind i can be driving it this next summer. however i would like "YOUR" opinion on the car. i will try to up load pic's

Even though (under the tarp) took it's toll it doesn't subtract from the low miles.
Plenty of restored cars out there.
My bet is at a car show you would get more attention than car next to it with the 30K paint job.
I agree take care of the details so you can drive it safely and Enjoy.

                Mike,
When removing the spare tire bucket, be very careful when removing the front 2 long bolts: if they are the same as on the C3's, those bolts thread into weldnuts in the frame. Since the car has been sitting for so many years, they may be rusted into the weldnuts. Too much torque used to undo them could (don't ask how I know) break the weldnuts from the frame. These are welded inside the box and can't be re-welded. Just a thought.

I also removed the fuel fill neck and the tank came out easier... the process should take about 4 hours
