Looks like a C2 between 65 and 67. The battery location and indentation for the harmonic balancer are the clues I saw. Others may be able to narrow it down to the exact year.

You have a 1966 frame. You can tell by the center cross member notches where it is welded to the main rails.

Yes, if original, rear bar would indicate big block. Any chance the VIN derivative stamps on frame and engine still match?

I thought in early 1968 production, the remaining C-2 frames were still being used up in early C-3's production. Then in mid 1968 production (as early as mid January possibly) the true C-3 frame came on line with the 2 angle braces being welded between the rear dog leg and the differential cross rail. My big block 68 with the build date of early December '67 did not have the angle bracing. Later 1968 cars and after had the angle brace reinforcement.

Appears to be early 66 big block convertible.

                    Terry,
I don't think 67 frames could be used for 68 production. The rear frame rails at the gas tank location are of a different configuration than 68 frames. The bracing you mention was just improvements made to C3 frames as problems were discovered .

I was under the impression that the wheels on C3s were wider, dictating that the rear ladder section be more narrow to accommodate. I do not have my frame dims to verify.

                        Dave,

That could very well be, I do not know. I do know the C2 rear frame section kind of sweeps down while the C3 sweeps up.

that looks to be a C3 rear bar as it looks to have a hump at the ends. C2 bars are straight

Given the hole in the trans cross member, i'd say not 67 as earlier parking brake cables went through that hole.
