    '63 Ign. Switch

Is the 1116636 1963 ignition switch actually marked "636" on the case? Thanks.

Loren, I do believe it's a 635 switch and it is marked on the case.

Loren, According to this link it was superceded to 1116647.

This link shows that part for 1963 Buick "ALL".

Thanks, Rich. That means that "at some time", 1116636 was in the "line of succession" for a '63 Corvette ignition switch, because this one came out of a ONE FAMILY OWNED '63 Blk/Blk FI coupe. I'm trying to provide answers to a local restorer.

              Re: '63 Ign. Switch

Loren, I searched a bit more to see if they're functionally equivalent. They are.

gmpartswiki has photos but the part is marked "647" with a GM box marked 1116636. Note the terminal pinout below.

More searches tell me that the 1116635 was superceded to 1116650 (D-1449)

A 1116635 switch (below)appears to have the same terminal pin configuration as the 1116636/1116647, however, it is missing the IGN2 terminal which is on the 1116636/1116647.

Obviously on that car, the Ignition switch harness plug fits onto the 1116636 switch and it should function properly. The IGN 2 terminal is not used in the Corvette harness.
