    1966 IK engine code revisited

OK, I am circling back to a discussion held many years ago about the possibility / feasibility of a 1966 Corvette with an "IK" engine code.

I am aware of a car that has an IK engine code, and I am trying to figure out what the application would have been for such a car.

    Basic information:

    The car is a 1966 427 coupe.
The car has an M22 transmission with a VIN derivative that matches the car.
The car was build in February of 1966.
The car is a big tank car (I don't know why that would matter with regard to the engine code).
    The engine code is "IK".

As I recall, NCRS has previously stated that an IK code would be for a 427 engine with a M22 transmission. Apparently, the M22 cars used a different clutch setup that was sufficiently different to warrant a different engine code. At least that is what I understand to be the case.

OK, please help educate me on IK engines.

Ed: Had to dig out my notes on the above. Took many classes(workshops) with Al Grenning. According to my notes the L72
with the M22 was built(or could be built) from S.O.P.(Start of Production) to 10/27/66. Then it started up again from 6/24/66
to E.O.P.(End of Production) Yes the M22 took a 403 Bell Housing with the smaller clutch disk. Tonawanda records showed two
L72 with M22 where built but maybe not the cars. All the others built where "experimental" engines. Thanks-Larry

wasn't the IK suffix a HD L72. more less a L88 spec parts like the smaller 10.4 clutch, heavy duty rods, etc

The date above 10/27/66 should be 10/27/65. Would not let me edit the correction for some reason. Larry
