    Yes Mark,
IIRC, this had the hard plastic reservoir down by the inner fender and firewall.

Re: 70 Hole in fender rail

FWIW I'll offer a speculation... Both the driver side harness clip hole, and the passenger washer bottles long neck bracket hole, are 71 provisions.
I can imagine a large pile of fenders stockpiled for the 71 model, all with the holes punched out.(Jig?). Possibly done before the 70 model year was completed, So some of the 71 style fenders found their way onto late production 70's.

The holes in my theory,(pun intended), are what are the holes doing in early model 70's.
Insert another speculation here.... Fender replaced with factory piece,(would a service piece have the holes?), or car had a replacement fender from a doner 71 fender or front clip.

side note: Mark. whats up with the metal shroud/alum. rad?

Interesting - even though there's no ignition shielding, there's still a bracket for mounting the passenger rear lower plug shield.

My May built 70, VIN 9753, has the driver's side drip rail hole. While I know the outer portion of this fender has been replaced, I'm fairly certain the inner portion, with the drip rail, is original.

I believe it is a later 1970 thing. To the best of my recollection my early 1970 does not have it.
I have to correct my statement. I have found that hole, and one in the horizontal surface with the rivet to hold the vacuum harness retainer (called a loop) also. I have both on my end of January 1970.

Terry, In my opinion these holes have no historical significance in C3 Corvettes, but the earlier "Speculation" that early '70 cars with the hole all had replaced fenders was interesting to me.

It might be interesting, but I have owned my Corvette since new and the fender/front surround has never been replaced.

My guess is that hole has some use in aligning the front surround in the jig when the front end was glued together.

Re: 70 Hole in fender rale

I measured to the center of the hole on the driver side, from the beginning of the drip rail as a starting point. 31 1/2". The hole is the same distance on the passenger side. Interesting. Terry's thought of an alignment reference is making more sense.
