show casting M 10 9 on intake manifold what is that date ? I show L as Dec

Terry- Absolute clear as a bell M109 I have a photo on my phone if you want I can send to a phone or email
Having a heck of a time getting it posted will try on camera tomorrow, hard to see with automatic plumbing, wires etc
Feel stupid, there is something I am missing

Looks like a M to my old eyes, is it a B which makes sense. The more I clean it looks like a glob

Run thru the alphabet again. The letter "I" was not used in casting dates, therefore your "M" is December. Breathe again

Terry, This is the 70 Convertible I just bought, original owner original title 7,000 mile original rough paint pretty much virgin no damage
I am interested in Survivor , we talked about the carpet dye. I have a good number of questions re what I can / can not do to maintain
survivor. Service stuff has been replaced carb, alt, W pump and probably starter OK to put on dated original parts, Sokolowski has most.
OK spot paint lacquer, has roughly 10% paint repairs I should do right nose/hood. OK to degrease under hood. Valve covers and intake NEED paint- you seem the be the man that knows got a bit of time ? Much appreciated Bob 760 4130 363

Leif, Well well, THANK YOU you are 1/2 right- which is enough. Interesting ( and EVEN Terry missed this) 5th " The alpha numeric code is the same as for engine blocks" and below is a chart showing normal letter / date NO M. So I go to page 85 block/ cylinder case casting dates
again NO M BUT next paragraph "M Casting Code" One exception (what a joke- there were lots) M in lieu of a date foundry code
to evaluate a change after evaluation to be destroyed OR RELEASE IN TO PRODUCTION Looks like my old eyes still work a bit-
IF St Louis did M on blocks maybe intake manifold too ?????

That is inaccurate. "I" was generally not used in stamping dates, but was used in casting dates.

You certainly have more "skins on the wall" than I do, so help me understand please. Wasn't the "I" used in stamping dates as in V06I0HP on a block stamp. Just trying to clarify what I thought was the case which was "I" used in stamping but not used in casting.
