Tri-power Air Clean Base Bolts and Bracket Gap

    Hi,

I've noticed that there's about a 1/4" gap between the tri-power air cleaner base brackets and end carbs. So I can see why one of the brackets is gone because it was probably torqued down too tight and simply broke off. This seems like a bad design so I suspect I'm missing something like perhaps the original bolts had an un-threaded top portion of the shank that prevented it from being screwed down too far?

I can see that there is no spacer listed in the assembly manual. And I have two bases and they both have the gap. I'm not expecting there to be a difference in the carb's themselves.

    Thanks,

    Jack

Haha Rich, I know that pain as well. Thanks for the response.
