I will have the same problem with my 2007. I think if some electrical master can come up with a system, that prior to disconnecting your battery, an electrical unit might be devised that would keep power to your system while you go through battery replacement. I think there is another problem when it comes to a battery disconnect for Flight judging. A small 12 to 13 volt attachment hooked to the main battery system might be the ticket. This might be a money maker for someone. To me electricity is still a theory, the only time I know electricity is flowing is when I'm bit by the electric god.

If the clock is not part of the head, then a serial data message could be replicated. We'll see,

Since nobody has asked, I will. Does the old trick of connecting a 9V battery through the cigar lighter not protect settings on the newer vehicles? When the digital radios came out in the 80s, I heard of people doing this. I never tried it on my 2000 when I owned it, but I always hated the "protocall" it went through whenever I disconnected the battery. Chip.

Try bridging the two terminals of the disconnect switch with a 2 or 3 amp fuse. It will supply enough power to keep your clock going, but will blow if a substantial load is applied such as a short or an effort to activate the starter motor.

Wording for Bulletin # PIT5652B Dated 4-23-19 "Engineering and supplier are currently investigating this issue on those vehicles and radios. Please apologize to the customer and advise that engineering is investigating the concern."

I replaced the battery last fall. The 09 does not have the nav system. Clock works fine. If I understand your post, Terry, if I disconnect the battery today I will lose the clock. Am I understanding correctly? Thanks

                Mark,

No, because it only affects clocks with the Nav system.

One more reason I'm happy I did not order the Nav system.

Thanks Patrick. I concur! The NAV system is a waste of money in my opinion.

In hindsight I agree with you, but when the MSRP gets close to 80K what's another 3K?

Oh, and it now is now worth half that. However, all the 91K miles of fun are priceless.

                      ***THERE MAY BE HOPE***

About three weeks ago the battery in my 2011 STS Platinum died and in the process of disconnecting/reconnecting the cables, my clock succumbed in the same manner of all you posting here. Based on the posts here, I expected that would be the end of it and my future would include looking at dashes and dots where my time used to appear. This morning, left for a ballgame in St. Pete, FL and when I was on the road for about a half hour (at roughly 11:40AM), my gf yells out on I75 that the clock was working again! The time was wrong but was able to now go in into config settings and adjust it to exact. On returning home, clock still working fine. Have the let the car sit about an hour and tried starting again and time still there. I was not using GPS or fiddling with any controls at the time it came back so have no idea what to attribute it to. Something clearly did reset it, however, so perhaps there is hope this is resolving. Hope that's the case for everyone here at some point.

If you have had these Navigation clock issues on your C6, you may want to go and see if anything has changed and the clock will now show.

Be interested to see if anyone else has positive results.
