Can't judge the clocks on 2005-2010 C6s - looking ahead

Someday NCRS will bring C6s into the fold for judging. Probably not in my lifetime but someday.

Please note now that all 2005-2010 Corvettes that have had their battery disconnected and reconnected anytime since last November have lost all clock functionality. The clock goes dark and cannot be reset.

This is apparently an issue with the way the GPS in the NAV system was programmed by Denso, the supplier. The clock runs off of GPS time.

There is no known fix other than to replace the Infotainment system head with that from a newer Corvette, thus losing originality. It is doubtful that GM will create any other fix for Corvettes that are all out of warranty and for any problem that is not a safety issue.

If you own a 2005-2010 do not disconnect the battery or you will also lose your clock function. If you must replace your battery or disconnect it for service operations install an auxiliary power supply first.

For those of us without the NAV system does this still apply?

      That's a good question. I don't know the answer.

The problem is related to connecting with and reading the GPS satellites and if you don't have any GPS connection you would be clear. But I'm guessing that if you have OnStar that might mean there is some sort of GPS because I believe OnStar can tell where you are is you break down or ask for directions. I could be totally wrong about that though.

Perhaps the answer you seek is somewhere in here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...isconnect.html

        Troy,
Your info is 2 weeks too late. Despite being on a maintainer all winter, my battery crapped out. I replaced it, and now have no clock. 105k miles already on this 2008, so it may never be a judged car.

Resurrected the 2008 Z06 (with Nav) Saturday. No time, as predicted. Oh well.

Maybe I'm missing something? I changed my battery two years ago. I have the NAV system in my 2006 and the clock works fine. I just went to the garage and double checked.

The clock worked fine in my 06 roadster until I tried to reset it for daylight savings time recently. It went blank... and is still blank today.

Several threads over on CF stated that some magic event would occur on or about April 6 when the GPS satellites "reset"..

April 6 has come and gone, and I still have no clock.

I might add that I had replaced the battery in this car, and had disconnected/reconnected it several other times in the past years, and never lost the clock function.

Your clock will work fine until you disconnect the battery. The issue has to do with satellites and the Denso system that Chevrolet used in our C6s.

The analog clocks never worked well in the C2 & C3 cars, so there is no reason to expect better performance from digital equipment.

Terry, I took the battery out of the car and put in a new one. Battery was disconnected for about 15 minutes as I recall.

Two years ago you were fine. Last year also. This year -- not so much.

The satellite was updated earlier this month and that is what gummed up the works. Disconnect your battery now and you will lose the time display never to return.

To all posters: what is a reasonable cost for repairing/fixing the problem?

My understanding is that there is no fix.

I've read that you can buy an entire new navigation "head", but...................
