Well, this is new news. The 261 continued to be manufactured on into 1963, after the newer generation 230/250 series engines were available? What was the last year for the older 261-style engine?

The LAST year for the 261 in PRODUCTION vehicles (trucks and Canadian Pontiacs) was 1962. I do not know how long it remained as a service replacement.
Same thing with the 409. The LAST year for a 409 in a production car was mid-65, but it remained as a service replacement for a few years (I love W-motors).
