C1 temperature control cable

I thought I saw a post or tutorial not long ago on replacing the control cable and spring housing for the heater switch on a C1 but I can't find it on a search. Does anyone have any guidance help.

Jerry do you mean the heater fan switch ?

My bad, I WAS referring to the fan switch/cable and that's the thread that I had recalled seeing.
My switch tests okay on both speeds but I'd like to do a little cosmetic work on the cable, something like your after photos show. Did you just clean up the original cable (bead blast or wire brush) or did you replace the cable somehow?

Jerry, When I had it apart to repair and clean the internal contacts, I media blasted the metal cable/housing then used Eastwood Silver Cad paint.

This one had bad contacts on the resistor tab rivet connections, so I had to remove the rivets and replace with the screws as I didn't have rivets that long. After cleaning the connection tabs and terminals it worked fine after assembly. The good thing about the screws is it allows future repairs easily.

You can pry the tabs from the metal cable housing as shown to remove the cable assembly. This way you can clean the internal contacts. There is a disc inside the switch so note its orientation.

If you're not going to take it apart you can wire brush then mask before paint. Originally they were plated.
