OEM Power Antenna Bench Test Question

I’m hoping someone here has bench tested an OEM power antenna and can confirm that I won’t damage the motor etc. if I try to bench test the function of the power antenna before I install it on my ’66. I don't want to go through the effort of installing it only to find out the unit is dead.

I am planning on attaching a ground to the bolt on the housing (at the bottom of the spool) and applying (one at a time) 12V to each prong of the plug to see if the motor functions and the mast moves.

Is this a safe way to check the function?

    Thanks in advance.
