Thanks for your time in advance!
I am the 2nd owner of '64 convertible since 1998. I've just recently got around to restoring this car and I have somewhat of a mystery on my hands. I purchased the car from the widow of the original owner. She was elderly, but they had kept many records over years, including old registration cards, receipts for A/C recharging, the Powerglide rebuilds, etc. She is now deceased also, but I have been in contact with their only child, who has forwarded me period family pics, etc.
Where my question lies in the trim tag. The serial number plate matches the block, SL coded as a 300HP, A/C, Powerglide. The markings on the transmission match the warranty docs from 1977 rebuild. Axle date checks out, so does the tinted glass, and everything else I've ID'ed so far.
According to the Noland Adams index... the Blue Leather option didn't come with the SL engine config. The KA Suffix = "base model" which I assume is the 250HP. As of late March, the codes changed... but mine is a 2/26/64 build. The daughter, who was just 5 at the time of purchase, relayed an oral history that "Dad ordered the car for Mom for their anniversary". Could specific cars be configured and "ordered" at the time? What happened to the trim tag in those cases?

300HP, PGlide, PS, PB, A/C, 3:36 to 1, Silver Blue, Blue Leather, Full Tinted
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
